Yesterday

I love looking back on the day before, or even the past few days, and think about all that happened.

To think about all the nice little things my kids have said or done, think about the weather, think about the things that we did together that made someone happy. Most of all I like to think about the way we all are growing together each day.

For example, my boys have been crazy about tick tack toe lately. We have an easel with a chalk board on one side and this is 'the bestest place for tick toe' in the house. It's so great to just watch them have something else that they can actually do with little to no fighting. The best part though, when no one wins 'the cats won'. Yea, great right?!

We went for a walk yesterday, first time to the park since fall, and it was quite nice. We noticed that spring is just around the corner, and buds were everywhere. I can't wait for the warmer days that are coming.

Not sure if I'm more excited about the weather, or the fact that warmer weather means yardsale season!!

March's UFO

Since there's still some cold weather in these parts, I thought it would be suitable to finish up the boys pajama pants that never got finished. It would be nice to give them pjs that fit and that they can use for a while (not just once or twice).

I kinda feel like I'm cheating a little picking something super easy for the first month I'm joining the Lovely Year of Finishes.

In my defense, there are 3 pairs to be finished, and I will be working on some of the others a little also, don't worry.

So, I decided that I needed to add a little more to my challenge to finish this month.

Enter the peach dress:

This was supposed to be a cute little dress for Church for my younger daughter, maybe from 2 years ago. I think it's about an 18 month size.

I loved this tutorial for the petal neckline, and just incorporated it into a dress instead.

To sum things up, I've decided to finish up all the clothing items I have started and not finished as the challenge this month.

Tackling My UFOs

I just heard (found, I guess since it's online...) about 'A Lovely Year of Finishes' and they had me at hello!

I don't know about you guys, but I have just a few UFOs laying around the house, or strategically placed to be forgotten a little while longer.

However, it's time to dig em all out and either finish em up or completely abandon them and turn them or their materials into supplies for something else.

Contributing to QFO

Incase you were wondering, QFO if the abreviation for 'Quilting For Others'.

And, for some reason I decided to grab 3 (yes 3) kits to make quilt tops for the QFO in my guild at the November meeting. (Because I have nothing else to do with my time right??)

My thought was, once I get through the madness of Christmas crafting I wanted to make something that I wouldn't have to do the entire process.

Does that sound horribly lazy?

I kinda felt like it did, but the thing is I just wanted to be somewhat lazy in my crafting, or at least take the easy way for once. The kit comes with the fabric for the top and a large piece for the backing, and we are told to make the top pretty much 40 by 60. Easy peasy!

Here are 2 tops I made:

The one on the left was a bargello method that I did at a sit and sew. I've never attempted that method before, but I liked it and there is a lot you can do with it.

The one on the right was just a basic 'stair step' quilt, the blocks consist of only 2 rectangles and the placement makes the steps. This is an easy go-to type of pattern, totally adjustable to your size/fabric needs.

The last one still hasn't been started though, the fabrics in that kit were kind of blah so I'm not really inspired I guess. Do you think it would be horrible to swap out my last kit for another at the next meeting??

I could've been working on some of my UFOs, but what fun would that be?? Hahaha.
