How to Make a Beaded Stitch Marker

These are such a wonderful gift to give to any knitter you know! And they are a great beginner beading project- your loops don't have to be perfect since certain beads will cover them mostly.

What you will need:

-Silver-plated Memory Wire

-Ring large enough to go on knitting needle- I used Metals Clasps, they came 3 rings joined together with the stick parts separate.

-Wire Cutter

-Round Tip Pliers
-Needle Nose Pliers

- Beads of your choice- I like about 3 per Marker

First, take apart the rings of the Metal Clasps by opening the jump rings holding the larger rings together, set aside jump rings and stick parts of clasp- they will not be needed. Also, cut a piece of wire about 2 1/2 inches long.
Next, take the round-nose pliers and make a small loop in one end of the wire, and thread your beads on. I find that holding the wire about 1 inch from the end with the needle nose pliers give you a better grip and makes the loop easier to make. Whatever method works for you. Then, trim the wire leaving about 1/2 inch on the end for making a loop to put the ring on. (This is where the needle-nose pliers REALLY help with grip.) Use the needle-nose pliers to hold onto the intial loop you made first. Make a loop on the end a little larger than the other. Now use the needle-nose pliers to twist the loop you just made open just enough to put the ring on.

(Please excuse the dry hands- they're really bad when I'm preggo)

Finally, use the needle-nose pliers again to twist the loop back closed, and Ta-Da your done!

My NEW FAVORITE Diaper

To any of you who cloth diaper, and know about me and my stash, I have a little of everything, and love different dipes for different reasons...

With that being said, I have a NEW favorite!!! It's a....... DIAPER CHANGE!!! The one and only thing that I don't like about these diapers is that they are sized, that's IT! Other than that, they are awesome, and come in the MOST adorable prints!!

So, if you are wanting to get some sized dipes that ROCK, try a Diaper Change: http://www.freewebs.com/diaperchange/index.htm or http://diaperchangediapers.com/

We have one that has a baseball print, not too GN, I know, but it's baseball!!! Maybe the new little girl (coming in June) will get a few for her arrival...

A Little Bummed...

Well, my snap press is now officially on back order :( I didn't realize this when ordering, but the woman through the site (http://www.thesnapstore.com/) has been really nice. It will be coming in on or around April 15th, so I will get it 2 to3 business days later... Oh well, it's worth the wait.

On the other hand, I have some new things to blog about that I made up over the weekend, fun fun!

I am also debating on whether or not to put some of my patterns on here, or maybe a tutorial, I could start with a diaper sewing tutorial (all the ideas!!!). I am currently knitting an Easter vest for one of my little guys, and the pattern I came up with is working out great, so it may be my first. We'll see...

I think I may have to turn some of my aplix dipes I bought into snap ones to get used to using the press though.

Ophelia has Arrived...

I finished the bag, and here it is:

I had a very willing model (keep in mind, she is six, so the bag fits "bigger" people differently). I love this bag, as already stated, but this one is much cuter than my first!!!

I have also created a few more topless pants- only these have been added to my Etsy, but I will be taking more pictures today:

My First Diaper Cover!!

So, I cloth diaper my kids. And, well, they have grown out of some of our pockets. Since things are financially tight, I figured, try prefolds... why not? How much different could they be than pockets? Well, the thought of those plastic pants are the store just scares me... And, I know of a few people that make some of the MOST ADORABLE covers- I soo want to buy some of hers: http://www.olivejanes.etsy.com/. So, I wanted to make one for myself, I have all the material on hand to make pockets (just waiting to get a snap press).

So, here it is:

It definitely need some adjusting, since I just used the pattern for my pockets I make. A little too much fabric in the top back, and unnecessary flaps on front sides... Not too bad for my first shot at it though...

And, this is what I get when I say "let me see your dipey":

Latest & Greatest!

Last weekend, I went to an old friend of mine's wedding. It was simply beautiful!! She looked amazing (of course) and the food was GREAT!

Since I am 6 months pregnant, I did not want to fork out all the moola to buy a nice looking maternity dress. Soooo, I bought some awesome fabric (that was even on sale), used some selvaged buttons, and I already had thread to match due to the most awesome Christmas present ever (the Gutterman box with over 100 spools, ahh YES!!). And, I made a beautiful dress, that wasn't even "maternity" persay, but the way it was cut, it worked perfectly! All for a whopping $12.00 (and a few hours...)!!!
Here's a picture of me looking a little chunky preggo, but I LOVED my dress!!

Now, onto some future news:

I am going to start selling a purse that I originally designed in high school. Got grounded one weekend, and this was before Dad realized to take away the sewing machine before the TV... funny guy :). So, that weekend the "Ophelia" purse was designed and created (along with a few other needed things- like new curtains)!

It is still my most favorite bag, especially for day trips to DC of NYC. I can go over the shoulder, and be kept snug against you, and also worn on just one shoulder without falling off!! The reason I truly love it is because I can carry TONS in it without it looking bulky or feeling like it weighs a ton! Pictures to come soon!
